What is Aut Air Suspension Valve

Aut air suspension valve are electronic valves that open and close to fill or vent each air bag. Each corner of your air suspension system will be controlled by a single valve. The valves are integrated into a valve manifold and are installed between the compressor and the air bags. When you adjust your air pressure for each corner on your air management system, the solenoids will open or close to achieve the correct height or amount of pressure in your bag.

A valve manifold for air suspension is the heart of any air suspension system. The valve manifold electronically controls the air delivery in your system. It is usually made up of an aluminum block with electronic solenoids, valves, and ¼” fittings to allow for an easy installation.

Benefits of Aut Air Suspension Valve

Reduced noise, vibration and harshness
It’s much more comfortable for the driver–noise, vibration and harshness causes driver fatigue and discomfort, so if you can reduce this, it’s safer.

Improved fuel consumption
Some aut air suspension valve can optimise the ride height based on the speed of the truck and whether it’s laden or unladen. Unladen trucks usually sit higher because there’s less weight pushing the suspension down, but this is bad for wind resistance. A lower ride height means better aerodynamics because it reduces the wind resistance.

More versatile
It is sometimes height adjustable–adjustability can help with different types of loads, plus air suspension sometimes comes with a ‘kneel’ mode to help with loading, and a ‘raise’ mode to help clear bumps and rough terrain.

It is sometimes adjustable for feel, enabling better drivability; a driver can choose a softer ride for motorway cruising, or a harder ride with better handling on roads which are more demanding.

Improved tyre life
More effective suspension means less vibration that has to be accommodated by the tyre and this leads to better tyre wear.

Some air suspension can lift unused axles, further improving tyre life.

Less load shifting and damage
When there’s less vibration through the suspension, it’s better for the load. While improvements in packaging and load restraint have reduced the amount of damage caused to loads on bumpy roads, the smoother ride of air suspension adds that extra level of cushioning.

Type of Aut Air Suspension Valve

Multi-Turn valves
Think of these valves like a screw or piston. You crank the handle and the plug, plate, membrane, or other controlling obstruction moves into the path of the pipe blocking access.

Quarter turn valves
Quarter-turn valves offer a full range of motion in a 90-degree turn of the handle. This makes them ideal for situations where precision isn’t as important as rapid action and easy opening or closing.

Manual Valves
Typically adjusted by hand, these valves use handwheels, hand levels, gear wheels, or chains to actuate.

Actuated Valves
Often connected to electric motors, air or pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, or solenoids, these valves allow remote control and automation for high-precision or large-scale applications.

Automatic Valves
Some valves activate when a specific flow condition is met. Examples include check valves closing during backflow or pressure release valves activating when an over-pressure condition is detected.

How an Aut Air Suspension Valve

There are a few steps that need to happen in order for an air suspension to work. These include:

Mechanical ride height sensors at each wheel take a constant reading of the road height and send this information to the suspension control module.

The active suspension control module — or the computer for your air suspension — uses that data to determine how much air each spring needs to keep the ride level. It then instructs the compressor on how much air to generate based on that data.

The air compressor generates pressurized air and pushes it into the reserve tank. Meanwhile, air from the reserve tank is pushed out of the tank and into the supply lines.

Air travels through the supply lines and into the air struts, where it inflates them to provide suspension resistance.

What Role Does the Aut Air Suspension Valve Play in the Automobile air Suspension

The aut air suspension valve plays an important role in the automobile air suspension. The automobile air suspension is a suspension system that can adjust the suspension height and hardness. It adjusts the vehicle height and suspension stiffness by controlling the inflow and outflow of gas.

Gas flow control

The aut air suspension valve is used to control the flow of gas and adjust the gas pressure in the air suspension system. By opening or closing the aut air suspension valve, the inflow and outflow of gas can be controlled to adjust the height of the vehicle body. By adjusting the flow of gas, the aut air suspension valve can keep the suspension system within a predetermined height range.

Air Suspension Valve

Height adjustment

The aut air suspension valve controls the inflow and outflow of gas according to the signal of the sensor or controller, thereby adjusting the height of the vehicle body. When the suspension height needs to be increased, the aut air suspension valve will open, allowing gas to flow into the air bag or gas storage tank, thereby raising the vehicle body. Conversely, when the suspension height needs to be lowered, the aut air suspension valve will close, preventing the gas from flowing in, reducing the gas in the gas bag or gas storage tank, thereby lowering the vehicle body.

Air Suspension Valve

Stiffness adjustment

In addition to adjusting the height, the aut air suspension valve can also be used to adjust the hardness or stiffness of the suspension system. By controlling the flow and pressure of the gas, the aut air suspension valve can change the stiffness of the suspension system to adapt it to different driving conditions and road conditions. In some cases, such as high-speed driving on the highway or driving on a curve, the stiffness of the suspension system can be increased to provide better stability and handling performance.

Working Principle Aut Air Suspension Valve

The working principle of aut air suspension valve is to adjust the height of the vehicle through compressed air. This system can not only improve the vehicle's passability and stability, but also automatically adjust the height of the vehicle according to road conditions and driving requirements, and improve driving safety and comfort. In practical applications, the aut air suspension valve system can be intelligently adjusted according to various factors such as the vehicle's load, driving mode, and speed, so that the vehicle's suspension system can better adapt to different road conditions and driving requirements.aut air suspension valve

The basic principle of the aut air suspension valve system is to send air to the air chamber of the spring and shock absorber through an air compressor, thereby adjusting the vehicle height, shock absorber damping force, and spring elastic coefficient. Compared with traditional mechanical control, the electronic control system can more accurately control the inflation and deflation of the aut air suspension valve airbag, improve the vehicle's comfort and responsiveness, and also have more auxiliary functions. How to Maintain aut air suspension valve

With proper maintenance, most aut air suspension valve are capable of performing their jobs quite efficiently for long periods of time. However, as with all parts, the amount of wear and tear, use, vibration, and environmental factors can reduce the valve’s efficiency.

Establish a Regular Preventive Maintenance Schedule: Preventive maintenance is the regular maintenance of aut air suspension valve in order to keep them running efficiently. It also helps to prevent costly unplanned downtime from unexpected equipment failure. The goal here is to spot and prevent problems before they occur.

Perform a Visual Inspection: A knowledgeable technician should periodically perform a visual check of aut air suspension valve to look for deterioration, leaks and sticking stems. If a valve is not closing tightly, it may indicate wear or contaminant build-up.

Clean The Equipment: If the inspection discloses that the valves are dirty, they may simply require a good cleaning. Be aware that valve disassembly and repair for the purpose of cleaning, however, may require special tools. For a solenoid valve, remove the top coil first and then the guide tube. Check the plunger and spring inside the tube for solid particles, and then clean the area with solvent and compressed air. For a diaphragm valve, remove the valve’s upper body screws, check the diaphragm for debris or damage, and clean all parts inside the valve. Once the cleaning is finished, reassemble the valve.

Check Valves Periodically for Leaks: When a valve will not stroke efficiently, check for a sticking valve stem. Depending on surrounding noise, you may be able to simply listen for escaping air. In other cases, the application of soapy water or some type of commercially available leak detecting liquid might reveal the presence of leaks. There are also ultrasonic leak detection instruments which can be used to detect leaks.

Keep a Maintenance Checklist: Maintenance is not a one-and-done proposition. Depending on your system, operating environment, and capacity, maintenance may need to be performed monthly, bi-yearly, or yearly. Set up a chart so everyone will know whether the necessary checks have been performed.

Keep Spare Valve Repair Kits: Sometimes the inspection may reveal that the valve is malfunctioning, but can be repaired. Have plenty of valve repair kits on hand so production won’t be slowed down.

Keep Spare Valves: On some occasions, the inspection may reveal that it is time to replace the valve. With today’s supply chain disruptions, it is wise to have spare valves on hand so you won’t have to wait for replacement parts.

FAQ

Q: What does the air suspension solenoid valve do?

A: The solenoid valve controls the flow of the compressed gas to properly fill the suspension system or exhaust it to the atmosphere when necessary.

Q: What are the symptoms of air suspension valve block?

A: Suspension Sitting Low: If one corner or the entire vehicle remains low despite the engine running, suspect valve block issues. Inconsistent Ride Height: Fluctuation in height without input indicates possible valve block malfunction. Audible Air Leaks: This could mean internal valve leaks or compromised fittings.

Q: How does an automatic control valve work?

A: Control valves work by measuring the pressure or flow on either side of a valve and then regulating these pressures through the use of an actuator or other method. This adjustment can be made manually or automatically depending on the type of valve and its settings.

Q: What is the purpose of the automatic air release valve?

A: An air release valve is typically used in water or irrigation schemes to ensure that any entrained air in the water system is automatically released in order to maximize the system performance. Entrained air pockets in pipes can cause excessive head loss and flow reductions if air is not effectively released.

Q: What does an automatic valve do?

A: Automatic control valves are specialty valves fitted with actuators that can be controlled by temperature or flow sensors. The valves are controlled by electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic signals from sensors. The valves can be set to open, closed, or anywhere in between to accurately control flow.

Q: What is an Auto Air Suspension Valve?

A: An auto air suspension valve is a component in vehicles equipped with air suspension systems. This valve controls the flow of air to and from the air springs or airbags, allowing the vehicle to adjust its height and ride quality. It is crucial for maintaining the vehicle's stability and comfort.

Q: How does an Air Suspension Valve work?

A: The air suspension valve operates by receiving signals from the vehicle's control module. Based on these signals, it opens and closes to either inflate or deflate the air springs. This adjustment can be made based on various factors such as vehicle load, driving speed, and road conditions.

Q: Where is the Air Suspension Valve located?

A: The exact location can vary depending on the vehicle model, but it is typically found near the air springs or integrated into the air compressor or air dryer assembly. It can also be part of a valve block that controls multiple functions in the air suspension system.

Q: Can you repair an Air Suspension Valve?

A: Minor issues like clogs or leaks might be repairable. However, in most cases, especially when the valve is electronically controlled or has internal wear, it is recommended to replace the valve for reliable operation.

Q: How often should an Air Suspension Valve be replaced?

A: The lifespan of an air suspension valve can vary widely depending on the vehicle and driving conditions. Some valves can last for over 100,000 miles, but others may need replacement earlier due to wear or failure. Regular maintenance checks and immediate attention to symptoms of failure can extend the valve's life.

Q: What are the Common Types of Air Suspension Valves?

A: Inlet/Outlet Valves: Control the flow of air into and out of the air springs.
Relay Valves: Used to control multiple air springs from one control signal.
Height Control Valves: Regulate the height of the vehicle by controlling the air pressure in the air springs.

Q: Where is the Air Suspension Valve Located?

A: The location varies by vehicle model, but it is typically found near the air springs or integrated into the air compressor assembly. Some vehicles may have the valves mounted on the frame or the suspension components.

Q: What does an automatic valve consist of?

A: An automatic control valve consists of three main parts in which each part exist in several types and designs: Valve actuator – which moves the valve's modulating element, such as ball or butterfly. Valve positioner – which ensures the valve has reached the desired degree of opening.

Q: What is the difference between control valve and automatic valve?

A: Actuated valves operate using the energy of the process fluid and do not require external power sources. They are frequently self-powered and operated. Control valves, on the other hand, often need external power sources to drive the actuators, such as electricity or compressed air.
