Functions of Automotive Transmission Solenoid Valves

Transmission solenoid valves function as follows:
1. Adjust vehicle speed based on changing road conditions and driving conditions, providing appropriate driving force;
2. Cut off or transfer engine power as needed, allowing the engine to effectively output power or idle;
3. Change the direction of vehicle power output through gear shifting, enabling forward and reverse driving.

Whether it's a DCT, AT, or CVT transmission, mainstream technical solutions all rely on hydraulic systems. In hydraulic systems, solenoid valves act as actuators, converting electrical signals into hydraulic signals and controlling pressure and flow in the hydraulic system. They are key components of hydraulic systems. The performance of hydraulic systems directly impacts vehicle shifting smoothness and fuel economy, making them a crucial component of automatic transmissions.

Solenoid valves are basic automation components used to control fluids. They are classified as actuators and are not limited to hydraulic or pneumatic systems. They are used in industrial control systems to adjust the direction, flow, speed, and other parameters of a medium. Solenoid valves can be combined with various circuits to achieve desired control, ensuring both precision and flexibility.

A solenoid valve contains a sealed chamber with holes at various locations, each connected to a different oil pipe. A piston sits in the center of the chamber, flanked by two electromagnets. The valve body is attracted to the side of the solenoid coil that receives power. Controlling the valve body's movement opens or closes different oil drain holes.

The oil inlet is normally open, allowing hydraulic oil to flow into the drain pipes. The oil pressure pushes the piston in the cylinder, which in turn drives the piston rod, which in turn drives the mechanical device. Thus, controlling the flow of current through the electromagnets controls the mechanical movement.
